How to Play Tee Whiz

Tee Whiz is a concise guessing game centered around silhouette swing clips. Each round presents a short video of a professional golfer's swing. Your aim is to correctly identify the golfer using both visual cues from the clip and a structured bio grid that gives feedback on guesses.

Quick rules

  1. You have six guesses per round in Daily and Practice modes.
  2. Each guess will populate a new row in the bio grid with seven attributes (Name, Country, Age, Turned Pro, College, Career Wins, FedEx Ranking).
  3. Green tiles mean the guessed attribute exactly matches the actual bio for the current golfer.
  4. Yellow tiles appear when numeric attributes (for example Age or Career Wins) are close to the real value.
  5. One-time hint: you may press "Take a stroke" once per round to reveal a single non-name attribute. This consumes a guess as a penalty.

Scoring & modes

Daily mode presents one curated silhouette per day. Practice mode allows randomized plays. Nine Holes mode runs a short 9-golfer session for scoring — in Nine Holes the single stroke hint is available once per hole (reset each hole).

Tips & strategy

Start by watching the clip a few times and note stance, grip, or unusually long/short follow-through. Use country or college attributes to narrow regional players. The stroke hint is most valuable when used late to break a tie between two likely candidates.

Example

Suppose you guess "Jordan Smith" and the Age tile goes green while Career Wins is yellow — this tells you the real player is the same age and has a slightly different number of wins. Use that information to select a player of the same generation with slightly different career stats.

Accessibility & device tips

Controls are keyboard-friendly: the difficulty toggle and help dialog support keyboard events. The site is built to be lightweight on mobile — if a clip doesn't load, try refreshing the page or using the Practice mode where the clips are randomized.
